TNRL Cinco De Mayo Edition - Week 9

Oversized sombreros. Margaritas flowing from Adirondack chairs. A live DJ spinning dockside at Guanabanas while more than 70 paddlers filled the water behind Blueline Surf & Paddle Co. for Week 9 of TNRL.

Then came the anthem.

The Star-Spangled Banner filled the air as paddlers lined up shoulder to shoulder. A few seconds later, the siren blasted, and they were off.

Some of the paddlers charging down the Intracoastal are among the best racers in the country, and arguably the world. Others were sharpening up for this weekend’s legendary Key West Paddle Classic, one of the longest-running paddle races in the United States.

But that’s the thing about Tuesday Night Race League.

Not everyone is there to win.

Some come to train. Some come to sweat. Some come to race their friends to the finish line. Others are just there for an evening cruise through the Intracoastal with their kids, coworkers, neighbors, or friends trying paddling for the first time, including plenty grabbing rental kayaks and paddleboards while visiting the area.

And somehow it all works together.

That’s what makes TNRL feel different.

One minute you’ve got racers hammering a 4.6-mile course at full speed. The next minute there’s a family floating through the no-wake zone laughing with quesadillas waiting back at the dock.

It’s race night mixed with floating party energy. Jupiter style.

With only two weeks remaining in the 2026 season, the season finale party lands May 19th at Guanabanas, and if this week was any indication, it’s going to be an absolute blast.

See you next week at 6 pm.

And don’t forget, all TNRL participants get 15% off products at Blueline Surf & Paddle Co., excluding surfboards and paddleboards. Grab one of our new T-shirts, UV sun shirts, or hats before or after the paddle.
