Surf Season Is Here South Florida. Is Your Gear Ready?

It's been a long, flat summer.

And when I say long, I mean long.

Sure, we had that one-day anomaly back in July that gave us a little hope. Before that? Easter? Christmas? Seems like way too long to remember when we had a solid run of waves.

That stretch began to make the boat wakes look like actually waves... we were out there trying to convince ourselves it was worth paddling out. I fell into the froth trap on occasion, leaving slightly disappointed.

Then came last week.

That little green dot next to 2' - 3'. The coconut hotline was on fire. Plans to drive north. Dawn Patrol Missions.

And...

Well...

Just another South Florida Day. Flat.

But yesterday afternoon, following the mullet down the coast.

Lines appeared. There were rides to be had. Sure, the wind had plenty to say about it, but after a summer like we've had, nobody was complaining.

Today.

Not perfect.

Not clean.

But absolutely worth paddling out. Maybe a bit drifty. But it was not flat.

Time for the Neglected Surf Equipment Inspection

Now that surf season is finally starting to wake up around Jupiter, it's probably a good time to pull your board out of smelly, possibly moldy, board bag. You may even find those boardies that you knew you didn't lose. But they probably should get thrown away.

That leash string dry rotted.

Your leash too.

Your wax is full of sand, sunscreen, and leg hairs.

Those fins? There's a good chance they've been grind down from all those frothy "boat wake sessions" on the sandbar.

And if you're anything like me...

That last ding repair consisted of a gob of wax and a Blueline sticker. Its probably still leaking out some not so nice smelling inlet water.

We've Got You Covered

If your gear needs a little attention, we've stocked the shop for surf season.

We've got the latest fins from Futures and FCS, Fu, Sticky Bumps, Sex Wax and Mrs. Palmers wax in stock, leash strings, ding repair supplies, rashguards, boardshorts, and all the little things that somehow disappear over the course of a long, hot, flat summer.

One thing we're especially excited about is the new Creatures of Leisure Reliance Leash.

It comes with a built-in leash string, which sounds like a small detail until you've had one break at the worst possible time.

I've been using one for several sessions now, and I'm sold. It's one less thing to think about when you're paddling out.

Stop by and visit us, or checkout the Surf Shop page on the website and we can ship you any of the surf goods you may need.
