Cinco De Mayo on the Water - Week 9 TNRL

Oversized sombreros. Fake mustaches. Paddleboards drifting through the Intracoastal while DJ Schully turned the docks at Guanabanas into a floating Cinco De Mayo block party.

Week 9 of TNRL brought out more than 70 paddlers for one of the most entertaining nights of the season, rivaling St. Patrick's Day. Some came to race. Some came to cruise. Some showed up looking like they accidentally paddleboarded straight out of a mariachi band rehearsal.

And honestly… that’s exactly what makes Tuesday Night Race League what it is.

From families and first-timers to some of the fastest paddlers in the country, everyone shared the same water, sunset, music, and post-paddle dockside energy. Adirondack chairs filled up early, spectators lined the docks, and every few minutes another paddler floated in wearing something more ridiculous than the last. Giant sombreros somehow stayed on heads. Mustaches survived the humidity. Barely.

A huge thank you to Brian Hall of Iris Outdoors for capturing the night perfectly. The photos somehow managed to bottle up the exact vibe of the evening: part paddle race, part waterfront festival, part “how is that hat still on your head?” energy.

Huge thanks to everyone who came out, dressed up, paddled, cheered from the docks, or simply grabbed a drink and watched the chaos unfold under the palms at Guanabanas.
